Professional Networking

Recently, after one of my speaking engagements on Driven for Success, I was approached by two women who were trying to get their business off the ground. They had been in business for more than a year and seemed to be struggling very hard to develop a positive cash flow and to make a profit.

After listening to them for about 30 minutes where they told me nearly everything about what was going wrong in their business, I politely interrupted them and asked them a simple question. I asked them, “Who in your Professional Network have you contacted that is ‘most’ likely to help you get more business?” This is a simple enough question. Once again I got the deer-in-the-headlights” look! What do you mean by “professional network?” they asked.

How To Maintain Focus

Each of us has our own way of getting things done. Some of us have the ability to get more things done faster and more efficiently than others. I’m often asked, “Larry, how do you get so much done? How do you stay focused with so much going on in your life and business?” My usual response is that I have people smarter and harder working around me that makes me looks good. But the truth of the matter is that I developed a 3 Step Process for maintaining focus and for knowing exactly what I need to do to achieve whatever I am working on.

This “process” is called, “Larry’s 3 Steps to Success.” Read the rest of this entry »

What Does It Take To Be Successful?

This is probably the most often asked question that I get. There is not a day that goes by that someone doesn’t ask me what it takes to become successful. I’ve been a student of success principals for more than 30 years. I’ve read hundreds of books on success, talked to countless successful men and women about the topic and what made them successful, and I’ve documented hundreds of “steps” or “things” that I’ve done right in my life. I’ve also documented several hundred more “steps” or “things” that I’ve done wrong in my life. Both have been very useful in helping me achieve the level of success that I had achieved.

I really don’t consider myself successful yet. Mainly because I haven’t reached all the goals that my wife and I have established for ourselves, our family and our businesses. It’s a “work-in-progress” and it will continue to be a “work-in-progress” until the day that I die!

America – Land of Opportunity

I just recently returned from a Business/Mission trip to the Middle East. Each time I go to another country, I come back home with a greater appreciation for all that we have in our country. We are truly blessed to have the form of government, the freedoms, the choices, and the lifestyles that America provides us. When I meet with people in other countries, even those that are considered successful people, they all tell me that they want to come to America and have the freedoms and opportunities that we have. I think they are surprised at the number of people in our country who are on welfare, unemployed, and who complain about their situations all the time. I’m asked, “why do you in America not see how good you have it? Why do you always complain and want an easier life than one that you have not earned?” Talk about slapping you in the face! Read that last part of that statement again… you want an easier life than one you have not earned.

2010 BLOG

Dear Friends,

Well it has finally happened!  I have succumbed to the technology world and will be “attempting” to become proficient at blogging!  It wasn’t too long ago I didn’t even know what a blog was.  But after much coaching, encouraging and often, much needed, kicks in the seat of the pants by my good friend Whit Gillon (my webmaster), I’m starting a new dimension to my business building and marketing efforts.

As many of you know, that know me, I have a sincere passion for helping people to improve their lives.  Let me begin by first saying that very few of you have been more broke or as deep in debt as I have.   It wasn’t too many years ago that I was in such terrible shape, both financially and physically, that I was just about ready to give up on life.
